I’ve coached a lot of people over the years and a common question usually comes up at one point or another: “[insert name of language] seems to be on the decline. Am I wasting my time learning it?”
I almost always answer the same way: no.
If I’m coaching you, my expectation is high. You’re on the path to become an expert of the craft, not just a particular language. I want you to use whatever language makes you happy to learn the fundamentals of this craft.
Ruby works fine.
C# works fine.
I really don’t care what language that you want to use to learn because, if you’re studying right, you’ll eventually be able to shift between languages so easily it doesn’t matter if the language you started with is dead or dying.
